We have a look through the book in our YouTube video, or keep scrolling to see our full written review as we did into the datasheets and changes, and investigate what goodies are within! Terrax-pattern Termite Assault Drill-Credit: Pendulin. Given they can go after hordes very effectively as well, I think these have been priced pretty close to right. This makes the Exalted Daemons much easier to take in a game, and I cant wait to include them in lists again as they are some of my favourite models and deserve to be on the battlefield again! Caladius Grav-Tank: Lost the -2 to charge grav ability, kept fly. Over the next few weeks, well be diving much deeper into these new rules and how they shake things up for each faction and make no mistake, theyshake things up in some pretty big ways. All told, the leviathan takes a substantial hit to both offense and defense, balanced out by dropping all the way down to a base 220 points, and only up to 240 with the common double storm cannon loadout. Strictly Necessary Cookie should be enabled at all times so that we can save your preferences for cookie settings. Well be following up further on some factions over the next few weeks, so make sure you keep an eye out for those if youve got a particular set of units in mind. Terrax-Pattern Termite. TheMagaeraandStyrixboth get a boost, with their siege claws gaining a sweep attack thats straight up better than stomping feet, being flat damage three and otherwise identical. The Imperial Knights get profiles for all Knight variants currently produced by Forge World including some much appreciated points cuts! The Dreadclaw Drop Pod and the Chaos Terrax Pattern Termite are the big winners here, both being nasty threats that help deliver Chaos Space Marines to the battlefield in interesting ways. Imperial Armour Compendium is an Imperial Armour book for the 9th Edition of Warhammer 40,000. Last for this section, theTaunar almost certainly works out as a loser. All of the big tanks are surprisingly usable for their points and could easily be seen in an army if not for that 3 CP tax to take a superheavy auxiliary. Pallas Grav-Attack: Lost the -2 to charge grav ability, but is 10 points cheaper. At that point, given their defensive profile and the fact that they can just flatten stuff in melee, I think theres a plausible argument for trying three of these as a silly gimmick build. Unless youre set on bringing fancy weapon options, stick with the codex version. This iteration of the rules really gets rid of that, and while there are still good or bad units theres a lot less room between them. It can also be overcharged, increasing strength and AP, as well as a jump to straight 6 damage, with the overcharge only potentially doing damage if you did not Remain Stationary. Why are there no pictures of the vehicles. There are a couple of grumbles about missing units that are still available that do not have profiles, and sadly a few formatting errors here in there with incorrect battlefield roles and power values, which is a little bit of a disappointment in a 40 book. Any turn you get to play with it isextremely stupid it has a casual 30 move so can essentially teleport around the battlefield with impunity, its weaponry and melee threat are dangerous and broadly applicable, and to cap it all off its a MONSTER rather than a VEHICLE, shutting down some armies answers to it. Combat Engineers have also had a rework with their shotguns becoming a lot less deadly, but getting a great rate of fire and the ability to pop up anywhere on the battlefield. Is that a hint of changes to come? Grab all the rules for your Forge World collection in one place with the Imperial Armour: Compendium. The Warp Hunter is still way too expensive for how fragile it is, while the Nightwing gets a weird makeover from undercosted cheap option to trying to be a heavier flyer, and there just isnt a slot for what its doing. It gets a 4++ to compensate, but Im not sure that gets it back over the line into lists with all the cool new options to compete with. Both Hierodule builds getmassive discounts too (and sit in the Heavy Support slot), and the Scythed option ends up in a pretty similar spot to the Dimachaeron, though Id probably give that monstrosity the not because of its invuln and mobility tricks (though to be fair if you have a slot free to put Dermic Symbiosis on the Hierodule its probably better). Only once all shields are down can you start pumping damage into the Titan itself. Unsure, but in the meantime it is very much still a Land Raider, with all the problems that entails. The Firepike is now 15 range, so a 3 boost which is neat. TheKustom Stompa gets its cost brought more in line with a standard one, which is a relief, and its Stompa lifta-droppa gets an absurd boost, going to 4d3 shots instead of 2d6, rolling 3d6 against T to wound and now doing d3+3 damage at AP-4 instead of just a single mortal. Since Veterans have a real use case at the moment, this seems honestly fantastic. Also, if you really want something dead in melee you can choose to swap out Smite forWitch Strike and just absolutely go to town on them. as well. Trojans are the other huge loss. This seems a really fun way of making Titans useable in a normal game, and Im looking forward to seeing how my titans fare as soon as we are able to film battles again! Our latest podcast is now live with two fantastic interviews (post on the website appearing shortly) and we have filmed the first part of our first battle for our Crusade campaign! Its much more interesting now with 6 shots in either standard or supercharge, at strength 8, ap-3, and 2 damage in standard mode, bumping up to strength 9 and damage 3 when supercharged. First up, the Warboss on Warbike revs his motorcycle and pulls a sick wheely straight out of legends prison mostly. Each void shield is a 3 wound pool that has to be eaten through before the vehicle itself takes any damage, and that pool cant overflow so if a lascannon hits for 6 damage the void shield will absorb 3 damage, and the other 3 will just vanish. Aquilon Custodians [CORE] : Fists and bolter is 5 points cheaper!?!?! Its tougher, its way meaner on the offence, it starts with its 5++ and grows a 5+++as well if it devours something and only pays an extra 20pts for the privilege. Custodian Guard with Adrasite/Pyrithite Spears [CORE] : Pyrithite spears got the new melta rule of half range equals D6+2 damage, but also went up by 5 points, so a slight nerf overall. This book is absolutely stackedwith content, and up front we have to be clear we are not going to go through every single datasheet line by line, as theres far too many for us to possibly do that. GW noticed that theGargantuan Squiggothhad no business being as cheap as it was, and have substantially hiked the price. Defensively, it gained 4 wounds so toughness 8, 14 wounds, and a 3+ save. Note that all of these datasheets are considered to have theHateful Assaultrule since they have all rules that apply to all Chaos Space Marines datasheets, but its not listed on the datasheets here themselves, making it one of the more roundabout ways of doing this. Imperial Armour Compendium is an Imperial Armour book for the 9th Edition of Warhammer 40,000. TheValdor Tank Hunter is in a similar boar where it got a decent discount, but lost some oomph in exchange, and doesnt really end up as a desireable package overall. Hes still a respectable choice, as in trade-off for no longer getting to be a non-sensically good psyker he got stat boosts better weapon skill, an extra wound and mortal wound resistance on his shield. Change). The Infernus puicks up a big functional improvement too, with its Inferno gun going up to 3d6 shots! The 9th Edition Imperial Armour Compendium was released on October 30, 2020. Finally, the dark horse that I am hoping doesnt turn out to go anywhere of the units in this book with titan in their name, the Revenant Titan is probably closest to being decent in a Strike Force game. Krootcon Down Under Am I getting good at this? Being able to drop in a caster from this discipline without having to use an HQ slot on a Warlock is something that can plausibly come up. Imperial Fists converted Carab Culln Leviathan Dreadnought. Thats seriously spicy, and since neither goes up in cost on that build and some of their guns get marginally better, these are a much more appealing option, especially as Iconoclasts. It had a good run. Finally, theHades Breaching Drill looks kind of great now its been detached from the mandatory tag-along veterans, so you can take them as a separate squad as desired, and its melee attacks have been charged up, both getting d3+3 instead of d3 and being flat D3 against most targets and flat D6 against vehicles. The melee weapons got a substantial shakeup too, the leviathan no longer loses attacks for taking guns, and instead always has at least 4 attacks each siege claw gives an additional attack with that weapon, and the siege drill does 2d3 damage against most targets, or 6 damage against vehicles. Also Available on Spotify & Google Podcasts, The Hive Tyrant was one of the first models I ever painted for Warhammer 40k, so when I saw an unpainted one on ebay I knew I had to paint it up in honour of it! The Grey Knights also get a couple of updated profiles with a renamed Land Raider Banisher, getting a small points discount and a Grey Knight specific Thunderhawk getting a massive discount in line with the new profile elsewhere in the book. The Hierophant also gets a huge points drop to 850 points from its previous cost of 2000 so hopefully we start to see more of these, as they are amazing models! Also the shooting attack on the spear is up to flat 3 damage, from D3 damage. https://www.youtube.com/live/huzAXt0Wlmg?feature=share #warhammercommunity #StreamingLive #PaintingWarhammer, Blood for the blood god!! This mighty 224 page book collects together the rules for the majority of current Forge World kits that are available to buy over on the Forge World website (It doesnt include any discontinued models so keep that in mind if you have any older kits, these will receive separate Legends support over on Warhammer Community allowing you to use these in friendly games). Really onlyStone-Crusher Carnifexeshere they cant be taken as broods any more and went up a bit in cost when they probably didnt need to. A lot of the profiles have been tidied a little and they benefit greatly from this, as degrading profiles on low wound models like this was often a problem in the previous edition. Achillus Dreadnought [CORE]: Got the main changes from the Galatus, 9 wounds, -1D taken, extra attack. All of them got boosts and points drops. The second rule isnt really a rule its a set of recommended traits and parent chapters for various Forgeworld created chapters. Across the board most special rules have moved from being specifically written out on datasheets to referencing back to Codex: Space Marines. We will be taking a look at some of these units in greater detail over the week once we have had a chance to crunch the numbers, but my initial reaction is positive here with some cool options for adding some fun units to bolster your Space Marine army. Engineers are less exciting they lose their weird super shotguns and are basically kind of boring. Im here to talk about CHAOS! Adrasite Spears remain unchanged (and mostly garbage anyway). Galatus Dreadnought [CORE]: Down to 9 wounds from 10, but now doesnt degrade. All the titans are losers (except the warhound). The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. Imperial Armour Compendium. Combined with the contents of the new Space Marines Codex you will be able to carry the torch for these under represented armies! Today we see the new Imperial Armour Compendium up for pre order from Forge World! Cerastus Knight-Castigator. The Dreadspear melee attack is now 3+D3 damage, vs D6 minimum 3, which is a nice boost, but it does lose Impaling Lunge so no more chance at mortals on the charge. The deathshroud build feels like the play, and the fact that this loadout is over 120pts cheaper than in CA is kind of mind boggling. 2 - Space Marines and Forces of the Inquisition, War Machines of the Adeptus Astartes (Second Edition), Vol. As to the profiles themselves, the Krieg have lost any units that still do not have models produced by Forge World In addition to this, with the Death Korps now acting as a supplement to the core Astra Militarum book they simply use the base guardsman profiles for their troops this is a shame as they Krieg did have the advantage of slightly better WS, however I do think this is for the better in balance, as this means that then we get a new 9th Edition Astra Militarum book we will simply be able to port over the surviving Krieg units directly into that new army with minimal issues! Also, R.I.P. Not only do we finally get a Titan Legions faction we can draw our army from, but we also get some massively reworked Titan profiles! Alright, onto the shared units, I guess. Its great to see all these characters represented still, as a lot are from very old IA books. The Phantom Titan is also a loser obviously its not playable in Strike Force games, but even if you find yourself wanting to spend 3000pts on Titans in a game youre better taking two Revenants, as theyre vastly more efficient. Now it only ignores modifiers for Combat Attrition meaning it is still possible to force you off an objective from shooting. This means that until we see an FAQ or errata saying otherwise, these units areoff-limits to Thousand Sons and Death Guard. The command squads are obviously the more desireable option, since they get an extra attack with no extra cost, and the good news is that you dont have to include a Commander to be able to take them any more each Commander just lets you take one without using a slot. With a big laser: cooler. The Custodians get the profiles that have previously available on the Forge World website, not massive updates for these outside of some points adjustments, but all the Dreadnoughts including the Telemon have been given the same rule as Astartes Dreads allowing them to reduce damage of incoming shots by 1! Sky Slasher Swarms also get a bump their stats and costs are unchanged, but they get built in deep strike. Also RIP Samus, who has been consigned to the Legendary dustbin of history. The big thicc dreadnought is somewhat more svelte now its dropped from toughness 8 to toughness 7, and from WS/BS 2+ down to 3+ on both. Lets look at how things shake out. Sadly, the Seraptek construct is a loser, getting toned down in power on pretty much every axis and then goingup in points.Ive got nothing here this model is awesome and deserved better. Stillprobably not durable enough for how hard it is to hide and the cost, but much, much closer to something you want. Cool, but nothing particularly good. In this book you. Such an awesome model and can't wait to paint more! There isnt any massive rules changes, but some minor adjustments and a few buffs/discounts scattered around (or in the case of Venatari, a minor change with a HUGE impact). This is a great change as I often felt some of the Forge World units had some very odd costings. I absolutely do not think doing so is a good idea for your army, but its in a similar spot to a few other things now where it probably isroughly costed right for what it can do, its just that factors of the mission design still keep it non-competitive. Similar to the Space Marines we get a lot of traitor variants added, along with a new stratagem Smokescreen added in order to replicte the ability that Space Marines currently get in their book, again future proofing this volume until the Chaos Space Marines book is updated! Just check out the contents page below! The Death Guard also get a Greater Blight Drone with the Death Guard keyword, making this fully compatible with the Death Guard book and the Plague Companies rules. Whirlwind Scorpius. Both Acastus variants saw a massive 100 points drop. A bright point is his dreadfire claw switching from damage D6 to damage 4, but without the absurd durability he used to have, and without the choice of warlord traits, hes not bringing much to the table. The Tarantula Battery also makes the move to a Fortification slot, making taking 3 units of these very tempting for some objective defence! Some had vastly over the top rules for their relatively cheap points levels, while others seemed far too expensive in points for their in-game performance. The Kannonwagon and Kustom Stompa are the two that miss out, but its nice for the rest. - Dave #WarhammerCommunity #battlereport #podcast, Massive thanks to @warhammerofficial for sending us a free review copy of Warcry Bloodhunt! Wings:Its Xenos time, and as the chief elf-liker/army understander, Im taking the wheel from here, starting with Craftworlds. Hes armed with a heavy plasma cannon and dreadnought close combat weapon, and only costs 20 points more than an equivalently armed relic contemptor. Legio Xestobiax Reaver Titan. This has changed somewhat from the previous incarnation, and arguably is a little worse for your foot slogging troops. I had emotionally prepared myself for this, but it looks like I will, in fact, be needing to change the paint scheme on my Wraithseer before putting it on a tournament table even once, as they have completely changed but at least not necessarily to the point of being unusable. Thunderers go down quite a bit in points, but lose Grinding Advance. Join us on www.youtube.com/spruesbrews from 7pm - 9pm each Sunday! Whether you want to reclaim the galaxy with the Necrons, burn it to a cinder with the Chaos Space Marines, or convince everyone to join the Greater Good with the T'au Empire, this book contains the datasheets and the points values you need.. So if you were debating trying it before, it is certainly more tempting now (but still D3 damage, ugh). Loyalist Knight Atrapos. There are two wide-reaching rules for marines. The laser volley cannon defaults to being a better lascannon three shots at D3+3 damage. Previously this rule made you immune to battleshock from ranged weapons, meaning that the enemy had to kill you to a man if you wanted to shoot the Krieg off an objective. They also get the Termite added as a transport option, which also gives them an aggressive high strength close combat unit in the form of the drill itself! It also helps that the statline is still fine theyve gone to 9W rather than 12, but are at least non-degrading, and get the always-on ability to ignore AP-1, a nice extra upside. Also the only weapon that costs points now is the Arachnus Storm Cannon (which costs the same as before effectively), so every other weapon load out is cheaper now, which is cool. The bad news is, the Kytan went up 10 points. The free Wraithcannon option vanishes into the mists, but the spear gets a damage bump (to d3+3) and the ability to take a D-Cannon remains. The Skathach Wraithknight also gets a surprisingly huge amount of improvement, honestly shifting itstraight to being much more worth considering than the regular one. The impact was, shall we say, uneven plenty of choices were fine, but there were frequent issues with Forge World units having unintended interactions with newly released rules, and a few choices that were just a bit over-pushed that tended to be over-represented. imperial armour compendium 9th edition pdf trove. Relic Contemptor Dreadnought. The Malanthropewins because it gets to continue to exist, and is even slightly improved in exchange for a 15pt increase. Since you can double gun these, you definitely want to take this variant if youre planning on doing silly things withVisions in the Smoke, itsvastly better than the mainline one for that role. Fast, durable-ish units that are OK in melee is absolutely something the guard range is badly missing for 9th, so it does feel like a Krieg Vanguard or Outrider to use some of these is a genuinely plausible option. And add to that the fact that they now cost us CP and the same amount of points as the loyalist versions despite losing out on Legion Traits and Combat Doctrines and youve got a recipe for one salty Rob. So what do I think of the new book? The only other change is to the bombs, which is drastically different. The Thousand Sons appear to get nothing, which sucks. This is a much better way of the unit working and makes my life as a Krieg commander much easier in terms of having to previously try and fence off the crew to stop them getting charged! It retains the CORE keyword, and if you arm it with a kheres assault cannon or multimelta and dreadnought close combat weapon it costs the same as the codex version (well, and an extra 1 CP cost.). The Kharybdis Assault Clawmight be for you. Las-rippers bump up to 36 range, strength 9, and D6 damage, so theyre very nearly a twin lascannon, and the plasma eradicator trades a point of strength to upgrade from d3 to d6 shots, gain blast, and pick up a point of damage. TheMeka-Dread andMega-Dread both get quite a lot cheaper and that definitely works in their favour they dont have as many weird and wonderful options, but their defensive profile is just way more proportionate to their price if you feel like taking them.
